He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry and Gertrude; his brothers, Norman DeRuiter (Ulla) and Robert DeRuiter; and his niece Tammy Petersen.
He is survived by: his brother Jack DeRuiter (Marilyn); his niece Sondra VanderGeld (Bill); and his nephews, Jerry, Eric, Tim DeRuiter and Phillip.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes (1833 Plainfield Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
