The passing of Richard James Beukema (Grand Rapids, Michigan) leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on October 21, 2025 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his parents, Marenus Beukema and Anne Beukema; his brother Jim Beukema; his sister-in-law Denice Beukema; his nephew Timothy Beukema; and his brothers-in-law, Bill Deurloo and Henry Bulliss.
He is survived by: his wife Maxine Beukema; his children, Darl Beukema, Melinda Green (Mark), S. James Beukema (Christa) and Brendolyn VanZomeren (Matthew); his grandchildren, Joel Green (Jay), Ethan Green, Levi Green (Amber), Esther Fleet (Kyle), Lucas Thorp (Allie), Adrian Thorp (Kaiden), Darl Beukema (Hannah), Naomi Cook (Stephen), Devin Beukema, Sophi Beukema, Jonah Beukema, Lydia Beukema and Marin Beukema; and his siblings, John Beukema (Caroline) and Clare Deurloo. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Holy Cross Antiochian Orthodox Church (2828 Richmond St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
