He is survived by: his wife Carol; his stepchildren, Troy L., Dayna, Troy, Leanna, Troya, Alex, Anthony, Avery, Dr. Chad M., Jennifer Gartside, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Luke N. and Mark R. Rienstra; his sister Jeanne Rienstra; his sisters-in-law, Rev. Marchiene Rienstra, Shirley Bultema, Gloria Aukeman, Nancy Aukeman and Mae; his niece Candace; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Aukeman and Rick Bultema. He is also survived by four sons, their spouses.
