He was predeceased by: his parents, Jack Tietema and Frances Tietema; his brothers, Robert, Jackie, David and Patrick; and his parents-in-law, Ralph and Florence Chapman.
He is survived by: his sons, John Martin (Sharon), Gregory Scott (Cheryl), Matthew David (Brenda) and Daniel Patrick (Bridget); his wife Nancy Lou Chapman; his son Joe; his sister Joan (Tietema) Zawacki (Jim); and his grandchildren, Caitlin, John Paul, Kyle, Lauren, Jenna, Megan, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Emily, Abby Rose, Jack, Anna and Samuel. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Paul's memory to support our men and women in the military or the Grand Rapids Police Memorial Fund.
