It is with sadness that the passing of Stuart Samuel Vander Heide of Grand Rapids, Michigan is shared. Stuart, born on October 18, 1942, passed away on August 22, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Anne Heide and Jan S. Vander Heide; his siblings, John S. Vander Heide and Joan Jansma; and his siblings-in-law, Maurits Willem Westerhuis, Jan Westerhuis, Lee Hammond and Jane Vander Heide.
He is survived by: his wife Nelleke; his children, Laura (Mark Staal), Stuart J. (Christie Vander Heide), Derek (Rachael Vander Heide) and Paul (Amanda Vander Heide); and his sister Barbara Hammond. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546). A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Calvin University Chapel (1845 Knollcrest Circle Southeast, Grand Rapids, MI 49546).
