He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Bruinsma and Lena Bruinsma; his brother James S. Bruinsma; his niece Wendi M. Bruinsma; and his great-nephew Aaron M. Gootjes.

He is survived by: his siblings, Benjamin Bruinsma Jr. (Pat), Barbara Rooze (Mike) and William Bruinsma (Rose); and his sister-in-law Marcia Bruinsma. He is also survived by many extended family and close friends.
