It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Melvin Newton of Grant, Michigan, who passed away on July 7, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Estill Newton and Aline Newton; his uncle Kelly Hisey; his aunt Hazel Hisey; his siblings, Arthur Leroy Newton, Dennis Ernest Newton, Carol Hyma (Jim) and Dave Mishler; his parents-in-law, Lawrence Hubbard and Ilene Hubbard; and his grandchildren, Jarrid Hetler, Heidi Hetler, Alec Hetler and Emily Hetler.
He is survived by: his wife Vicky Newton; his daughters, Tammy Hetler (David) of Bailey and Melinda Brown (David) of Lansing; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Evans (Mason), Garrett Brown (Kacie), Emma Hetler, Noah Hetler and Abby Hetler; his great grandchildren, Skye Moody, Axel Brown and Arya Brown; and his sisters, Donna Buckner (Neil) and Janice Ream (Donald).
Visitation was held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grant Wesleyan Church (688 W 112th St, Grant, MI 49327). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Grant Wesleyan Church, Building Fund, 688 W 112th St., Grant, Michigan 49327.
