He is survived by: his parents, John Bates and Linda Bates (Hannan); his siblings, John Bates (Melissa), Shelly Berwald (Lance), Phillip Bates (Rebecca), Chrissie Johnson (Glenn), Holly Poling (Jason) and Matthew Bates (Rose); and his close friend Nathan Osborn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; many cousins.
