He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Phillip, Eleanor Hannan, Harold and Lena Bates. He is survived by: his parents, John Bates and Linda Bates (Hannan); his siblings, John Bates (Melissa), Shelly Berwald (Lance), Phillip Bates (Rebecca), Chrissie Johnson (Glenn), Holly Poling (Jason) and Matthew Bates (Rose); and his close friend Nathan Osborn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; many cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rice Lake Baptist Church (10793 S Spruce Ave, Grant, MI 49327). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
