William G. Lutze Obituary

Bill G. Lutze, age 76, passed away on August 16, 2026, in Grayling, Michigan. He was born on April 30, 1950, in Bay City, and he lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and a friendly spirit that touched the hearts of many who knew him.

Bill grew up with strong family ties and a deep appreciation for the people around him. He completed the 12th grade and carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and respect throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember that he had a warm presence and an easy way of making others feel comfortable. He was the kind of man who could bring a smile to a room, and his funny nature often left lasting memories with family and friends alike.

He proudly served his country in the Air Force, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. After retiring from military service, he continued to work and contribute in meaningful ways, including as a cook. In every role he held, William was dependable and steady, and he approached his responsibilities with the same sincerity that guided the rest of his life. His work ethic and willingness to help others were qualities that stood out to those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bill found joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his good friend James Denson and was a special friend of 40 years to Tom Kaekel. These friendships were an important part of his life, and they reflected the loyalty and companionship he valued so deeply. He appreciated time shared with others, and he understood the importance of friendship, conversation, and laughter.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Lutze, three grandkids, and eight great grandkids, all of whom brought him pride and happiness. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Salois and Sally Gilbert, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry his memory forward with love. Bill cherished his family, and the bonds he shared with them remained an important part of his life.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Lutze and Pat Lutze, and by his brother, John Lutze. Their memories remained part of his story, and he is now reunited with them in eternal rest.

He will be remembered as a kind, funny, and friendly man whose life was defined by the goodness he shared with others. His family and friends will remember his laughter, his steady presence, and the way he made others feel valued. Though he is no longer with them, the love he gave and the memories he created will remain a lasting comfort to all who knew him.
