He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Elizabeth Gates; his children, Michael Gates (Lorie), Erich Nelson and Jeanann Gates; his grandchildren, Collin Gates, Harper Carlson and Hailey Redmond (Samuel); his siblings, Scott Gates and Kathleen Robach (Donald); his parents, Embert Gates and Anna Gates; his siblings, Chip and Lois Sandborn; and his sister-in-law Joni Gates (Candace Jo Gates). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews, friends.
