He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Adair and Janet "Jenny" McDowell (Callander); and his brothers, Hugh and David McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Carol McDowell (Lytle); his children, David McDowell (Brenda), Marilyn "Addie" Corrigan (Dan) and Aimee McDowell; his stepchildren, Tom Lytle (Michelle), Jay Lytle (Kate) and Courtney Uhr (Lauren); his sister Jeanette Coffenberry of Bettendorf, Iowa.; his grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Claire McDowell, Adam, Luke Corrigan, David (Natalie) and Edward Quintal; his stepgrandchildren, Dylan, Paige, Tucker, Madison Lytle and Willa Uhr; and his great grandchildren, Colt and Casey Quintal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Grosse Pointe Memorial Church (16 Lake Shore Dr, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236).
