We are sad to announce that on May 11, 2024, at the age of 68, Thomas Stephen Vaughn of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Vaughn and Frances Vaughn. He is survived by : his wife Patti Krausmann-Vaughn; his children, Catherine Vaughn-Gillman (Eric), Cecelia Forinash (Brian), Patrick Vaughn (Jason Kim) and Audrey Vaughn; and his siblings, Kathie Hickel (Gerry), Jackie O'Boyle (Paul), Marybeth Grosfield (Dick), Jeff Vaughn (Patty) and Jim Vaughn (Ellen). He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing was held on Sunday, May 19th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Verheyden, Inc. (16300 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, May 20th 2024 at 9:00 AM and at 10:00 AM at the Our Lady Star of the Sea Church (467 Fairford Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236). The lying in state was held on Monday, May 20th 2024 at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grosse Pointe Woods Foundation, The Kirk Gibson Foundation for Parkinsons, or Regina High School.

“I worked with Tom for over 20 years and never saw him angry. He was strong, dedicated, hard working but, most of all, kind and compassionate. May his family and all who knew and loved him find comfort in knowing Tom is now in God's loving arms and free of any pain or worry. Heaven has called home a wonderful man home to rest. God bless his soul and his loving family.”

Mark Metz wrote a sympathy message

“Patti and family: Jill and I were shocked and deeply saddened to hear that Tom has passed away. He was one of my first friends at Dykema and my first and best mentor as a lawyer. He taught me so much, and much of the success I had during my 31 years at Dykema I owe to him. He and I spent countless hours together and his example of patience, gentleness and being prepared is one I always tried to follow. His was a life well lived. He was a true friend and he will be greatly missed by all of us.”
