He was predeceased by: his father Robert "Bob" Short of Bob's Auto; and his brothers, Robert and Duane Short. He is survived by: his mother Lula Belle Short (Nichols); his wife Cheri Desiree Foran; his children, Patrick Short (Kristin) and Shannon Short (Jason Moore); his brother Martin Short; and his granddaughter Shaelyn Short. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Buresh Funeral Home - Hale (121 S Washington St, Hale, MI 48739). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
