He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Batts and Cornelia Batts (Leys); his siblings, Howard Jr., Martin and Cornelia (Van Duinen); and his siblings-in-law, Roger Van Duinen, Vincent Dahle, Edna Swenson (Hagelund) and Ann Batts (Ferwerda).
He is survived by: his wife Marlene Hagelund; his children, Kenneth Batts (Lori) and Janet Cary (Steven); and his grandchildren, Lindsey Syverson (Marcus), Jeff Batts (Stephanie), Alex Batts (Emily), Suzannah Pieszala (Patrick) and Katherine Mineo (Nicholas). He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Knox Presbyterian Church (25700 Crocker Blvd, Harrison Township, MI 48045). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
