We are sad to announce that, on October 17, 2025, at the age of 73, Gerald Leonard Schmitz Jr. of Hart, Michigan passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald Sr. Schmitz and Jean Schmitz (Dodson); his brother Fredrick J. Schmitz (Larry T. "Louie" Schmitz); his great grandchild Emersyn Kokx; his nieces, Sabrina Shefke and Kim Schmitz; and his nephew Zachary Flanery.

He is survived by: his wife Helen Schmitz (Mannor); his children, Gerald'Spike' Schmitz (Orien), Lisa Frasier (Dwight), Carla Kaat (Martin, Jr.), Roger Hovey (Jen), Frank Hovey (Randi), Heather Schmitz, Preston Schmitz, Sean Schmitz, James Schmitz, Melissa Schmitz and Jace Schmitz; and his siblings, Patricia Monohan (Jim), Madaline Shefke, Jean Hovey (Randy), David Schmitz (Debbie), Jenny Flanery (Michael) and Virginia Prather (Dave). He is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
