She was predeceased by : her parents, John Milburn Curtis and Clara Mae Curtis (Lipsey); her son-in-law Burt Nelson; and her siblings, Christine Brown, Charles Curtis, Virginia Hindman Ballas, Mel Curtis and Emory Curtis.

She is survived by : her daughters, Shelly Nelson, Sandy Scouten and Sue Danyluk (Tim Renwick); her granddaughters, Crystal Osborn (Kevin), Nicki Danyluk (Travis Talsma) and Olivia Nelson (Jordan Thomas); her great grandchild Addie Osborn; and her siblings, John Curtis, Jim Curtis (Lavonne), Dan Curtis (Barb) and Drexel Kalavitz. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Oceana Eagles (4555 N Oceana Dr, Hart, MI 49420).

Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Harbor Hospice organization (harborhospicemi.org) in memory of Shirlene Scouten.
