She was predeceased by: her parents, John Milburn Curtis and Clara Mae Curtis (Lipsey); her son-in-law Burt Nelson; and her siblings, Christine Brown, Charles Curtis, Virginia Hindman Ballas, Mel Curtis and Emory Curtis.
She is survived by: her daughters, Shelly Nelson, Sandy Scouten and Sue Danyluk (Tim Renwick); her granddaughters, Crystal Osborn (Kevin), Nicki Danyluk (Travis Talsma) and Olivia Nelson (Jordan Thomas); her great grandchild Addie Osborn; and her siblings, John Curtis, Jim Curtis (Lavonne), Dan Curtis (Barb) and Drexel Kalavitz. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Harbor Hospice organization (harborhospicemi.org) in memory of Shirlene Scouten.
