He was predeceased by : his parents, Wilbur Purdum and Beryl Purdum (Funk); his wife Gladys Purdum; his brothers, Harvey, Sam, Bill, Fred and Red Purdum (Marlan); and his grandchildren, Jordy Ray Purdum and Jessica Sue Purdum.

He is survived by : his children, Chuck Ray Purdum Jr. (Cathy), Jeff L Purdum (Lonna), Candy Irene Starr (Ken), Tony Lane Purdum and Tim Lee Purdum (Deanice); and his sisters, Phyllis Peters and Bonnie Heizler. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
