He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Romel and Josephine Romel (Mulka) of Hawks; and his siblings, Mary Jane, Sylvester Jr. and Paul.

He is survived by: his daughters, Chandra Romel of Richland and Haley Brown (Shaun) of Chandler, Arizona; his grandchildren, Abel, Greysen, Elias and Brooks Brown; his siblings, Fran Morgan of Hawks, Irene Momrik (Dan) of Posen, Lucia Bruski (Jimmy) of Posen, Richard Romel (Sue) of Posen, Stephen Romel (Peggy) of Posen, Phillip Romel (Savena Pozantides) of Alpena and James Romel (Kathy) of Rogers City; and his friend Kathy MacArthur.
