With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dorothy Messer of Hazel Park, Michigan, born in Barbourville, Kentucky, who passed away on December 6, 2022 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Burchell Smith and Maude Smith; her husband Colman Messer; her daughter Judy Taylor (David Taylor); her siblings, Doris Broughton (Pete Broughton), James Smith (Betty), Leonard Smith (Mary), B. R. Smith (Cledia), Curtis Harold Smith and Paul Smith; and her sister-in-law Shirley Smith.

She is survived by: her son Scottie Messer (Sharon); her siblings, Clifford Smith, Aaron Smith (Mabel) of Murfreesboro, TN, Geneva Horner (David) of Tarpon Springs, FL, Betty Miracle (Charles) of Knoxville, TN and H. R. Smith (Emily) of Bimble, KY; her sister-in-law Zelma Smith of Davie Fl; her grandchildren, Shauna Messer, Elizabeth Rose (Dustin), Isaac Messer, Dorothy Anglin (George) and Christina Collett; and also Pat Roa. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews, friends.
