He was predeceased by: his parents, Alta Carpenter (Bemis) and Ralph Vyrene Carpenter (Alta); his son Craig Ralph Carpenter; and his brothers, Winston Carpenter and Craig Carpenter.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce; his children, Kathy Mills (Greg), Eric Carpenter (Diane) and Julie Hergert (L. Scott); his daughter-in-law Karen Carpenter; and his sister Meredith Berryhill. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
