Deborah S. Byers Obituary

Deborah S. Byers, age 69, of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2026, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Deborah was born on July 16, 1956, in Hillsdale, Michigan to Marian (Arch) Tuttle. She was married February 20, 1995, to Gregory Byers, and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2009.

Deborah graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1974. Deborah was the kind of person who would drop anything to help with the people she cared about and that was shown no better in the professions she loved, being a CNA at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility, home health aide and a deli associate, all wanting to help people in different ways. She loved nothing more than a good nap after a long day of errands, getting to watch her favorite soap operas every day, and enjoying the company of her friends and family.

Surviving are two children, Garrett Byers of Hillsdale, and Zachary (Jill) Byers of Kalamazoo; one grandchild, Oliver Byers; and many extended family members.

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Byers; her mother and step-father Marian (William) Tuttle; and multiple siblings including her dear sister, Martha Rae.

Funeral services for Deborah Byers will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale with Pastor Dave Turner officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services, and final interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsdale.
