He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. May and Esther O. May (Lauchlen); his wife Karen (Risk); his son Michael May; and his sister Roberta Wigent.

He is survived by: his children, Jerilynn May of Cambria, Melody May of Florida and William May of Cambria; his sisters, Barbara Reynolds of Lansing, Linda Querbach of Quincy and Deborah Cantwell (Martin) of Angola; his grandchildren, Ashley May, Corale Zimmer, Michael May, Jared May and Evan May; his great grandchildren, Kyler May, Paisley May and Aizlei May; and his pet Molly.
