He was predeceased by: his parents, Pearlie Walters Alsip and Nolan R. Alsip; and his brother James Alsip. He is survived by: his daughter April Alsip; his sisters, Nola Veling (Marie) and Susie Jano Alsip Childers; his brother-in-law Darrel Childers; his nephew Derrick Martin Childers; and his nieces, Lisa A. Rozeboom, Jamie S. Veling and Nola Mae Veling. He is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-nephews; three great-nieces; seven great-great-nephews; and four great-great-nieces.
