He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Kortman and Johanna Kortman (Klompmaker); and his siblings, Herman Kortman (Mary), Gesine Niers (Herman), Henry Kortman, Aleida Weerstra, Johann Kortman and Robert South.

He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Lind and Nancy Morgan (Robert); his grandchildren, Alexander II, Michael Lind and Meagan Hoeve (Dan); his great grandchildren, Olivia and Amelia Hoeve; and his siblings, John Kortman (Arlene), Fran Kortman, Jenni South, Dena Nyboer, Gerrit Kortman (JoAnn), Ted, Donna Weerstra and Harold Kortman (Lila). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.
