He was predeceased by : his parents, Simon Vander Kooy and Martina Vander Kooy (Maaskant); and his siblings, Wally, Charlie and Adrianna.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Ruth Burggraaff; his children, David Vander Kooy and Barbara Panhorst (Doug); and his grandchildren, Mark Panhorst and Erin Schneider (Mike).
