He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ulrich and Anna Matthis; and his brother John Ulrich Jr. Matthis (Faith). He is survived by: his wife Mary Kathleen Cannon (Kathy); his children, Alissa Estey (Dave) and Fred Matthis Jr. (Angie); his grandchildren, Michael Edward Estey, Alexander Gabriel Estey, Frederick Griffin Matthis and Eva Grace Matthis; and his siblings, Edward Matthis (Joyce) and Ruth Ann Creech (Dennis).
