He was predeceased by : his parents, Bill Welling and Goldie Welling (Lampen); his son Billy Welling; his sister Sharon Gilbert; and his parents-in-law, Morrie and Peg James.

He is survived by : his wife Debra; his grandchildren, Connor, Taylor, Rylee, Max and Morgan; his siblings, Irene Nykamp (Craig) of Mears, MI and Warren Welling (Linda) of Memphis, TN; and his sisters-in-law, Carol Bowers (Bruce) of Holland and Amy Huice (Dan) of Schoolcraft, MI. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Waypoint Community Church (3041 96th Ave, Zeeland, MI 49464). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
