He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Essenburg; his children, Jodi (Paul Koning), Cindy (Mike Smith), Brian (Pat Essenburg) and Vicki (Dick Nuiver); his grandchildren, Brad, Jill Koning, Betsy, Jake Wiersema, Kylee, Drew Lampen, Taylor Smith, Madison Smith, Zach, Casey Essenburg, Michelle Essenburg, Chad DeWilde and Cara; his sister Kathy (Doug Cook); and his siblings-in-law, Marcia (Arlyn Lanting), Ken (Joni LaGrand), Donna (Joe Malaukas) and David (Lonnie LaGrand). He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the Christ Memorial Church (595 Graafschap Rd, Holland, MI 49423). A memorial service was held on Friday, November 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Christ Memorial Church (595 Graafschap Rd, Holland, MI 49423).
