He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry DeWeerdt and Mary DeWeerdt (Zeerip); and his brother Don DeWeerdt. He is survived by: his wife Nancy (Arendsen); his sons, Michael DeWeerdt (Jennifer) and Brent DeWeerdt (Kerri); his grandchildren, Ashleigh Kooienga (Josh), Matthew DeWeerdt (Olivia), Adam DeWeerdt, Elliott DeWeerdt, Clay DeWeerdt and Ahmed DeWeerdt; his great grandchildren, Braelynn Kooienga and Brooklynne Kooienga; his siblings, Vern DeWeerdt (Verna) and Elaine Flokstra (Dale); and his siblings-in-law, Elaine Vanheuvelen, Loren Arendsen (Jan), Colleen Wassink (Darle) and Evon Craymer (Mark). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
