She was predeceased by: her mother Marjorie Freestone; her brother Spencer Scott Freestone; her parents-in-law, Dr. Richard and Julia Schaftenaar; and her siblings-in-law, Doug Knapp and Jane Walton.

She is survived by: her friends, Dick, Jean Schmidt, Mark, Paula Nieuwsma, Rich, Cindy Arenas, Tim and Linda Kragt; her husband Richard Schaftenaar (Dick); her daughter Tonya Tolsma (Art); her grandchildren, Nola Julian (David), Areal Vanden Akker (Jonathan), Avery Tolsma and Megan Tolsma; her siblings, Nola Freestone (Bob Levitan), Ken Freestone (Lorma) and Mike Freestone (Deanne); and her sisters-in-law, Margie Knapp and Becky VanEenenaam (Rick). She is also survived by her husband, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
