She was predeceased by: her parents, John James and Florence DeKruyter (Hoving); her husband James Gary Poel; her parents-in-law, Andrew and Gertrude Poel; her stepmother Daisy DeKruyter; and her brother-in-law Robert Poel.
She is survived by: her children, Joel Poel, Kara Poel and Marc Poel (Jamie); her grandchildren, Alexis and Delainey Poel; her siblings, James DeKruyter (Barbara) and Ruth Ekkens (Rick); her in-laws, Mary Jo Poel, Joyce Walstra (Glen) and Marilyn Braman (Paul); and her stepsiblings, Tom Reminga, Sue Annen and Mary Thatcher. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 26th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Christian Reformed Church (1724 Whites Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008).
