He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joe DeKraker and Charlotte DeKraker (Burch); his son Aaron DeKraker; his wife Mina; his children, Nicole Hayden (Ian) and Duk Nam "Matt" Kim; his grandchildren, Chandler and Fletcher; and his pets, Sam and Sassi. He was also cherished by many extended family and friends.

“Hi, Mina, We were so sorry to see that Bill had died. Even though I haven't had much contact with him since our days teaching at Hudsonville, I feel like he is a good friend. I think of him often when I work out. He designed and helped me build my weight bench over 50 years ago. That bench will last another hundred years. I also remember talking about our Corvettes. I believe Bill had a red one. Please know that we will keep you and your family in our prayers. Love, John Burggraaff”
