He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Downard and Nora Downard (Withrow); his wife Julia; his daughter Lynda Downard; his siblings, Juanita Cutchall (Kenneth), George Downard (Betty), Cecil Downard (Eleanor), Donald Downard (LaMoine) and Alvin Downard (Victoria); and his sisters-in-law, Margaret Harrison (William) and Alice Truitt.
He is survived by: his children, Joy Layer of Holland, MI and Robert Downard (Kelly) of De Pere, WI; his grandchildren, Christopher Downard (Ashley) of Freedom, WI and Amanda Downard; his great grandchildren, Stefan, Isaac and Ezekiel; and his brother-in-law David Truitt (Jacqualine). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Book Hotel Holland Baptist Church (906 E 24th St, Holland, MI 49423). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
