It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen D. Bates of Holly, Michigan, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on September 5, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Arnold Dale and Ida Dale (Bertrand); her husband Gordon Bates; her sons, Stuart Bates (Loretta) and Warren Bates; and her siblings, Blair Dale and Gloria Crawford.

She is survived by : her children, Curtis Bates (Jane) and Laura Spens (Richard); her grandchildren, Matt Bates, Rachel Loutsios, Steven Spens, Cody Bates, Elijah Spens, Sierra Bates, Savannah Bates, Kimberly Spens and Paul Spens; and her brother Gary Dale (Joan). She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
