He is survived by: his wife Kathi; his children, Jamie Guardiola and Joshua Horwath (Lisa); his grandchildren, Alexis Guardiola, Kailee Guardiola and Owen Horwath; and his brothers, William Horwath (Elaine) and Ronald Horwath (Diane). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Michigan Family Rec Center (F.O.E.), where Rob camped often.
