He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Winchell and Marie Winchell (Pittelkow); his stepfather Robert Larder; his son-in-law Kevin Renfroe; his brother Robert Winchell (Irene); and his brother-in-law David Butler.

He is survived by: his children, Doran Winchell (Tammy), Kelly Renfroe (Jeff Johnston), Brent Winchell (Cindi) and Aaron Winchell; his grandchildren, Kody Renfroe (Heather), Brock Winchell (Chelsea), Kyrie Hernandez (Chris), Cheyenne Barrett (Cameron), Paige Cornstubble (Dale), Devan Winchell and Wyatt Winchell; his great grandchildren, Blake, Tessa, Avery Renfroe, Kneco, Chris, Rae Hernandez, Piper, Sawyer Cornstubble and Finley Barrett; his sisters, Rose Marie Butler and Marjean Sikkema (Andy); and his half-siblings, Vance Larder, Sharon Kreger (Jeff) and Sherry Trader (Howard).
