She was predeceased by: her parents, Ovid Black and Iva Black (McCoy); her husband Rev. Donald Bates; her son Bruce Bates; and her siblings, Luanne Parker and Divere Black.
She is survived by: her children, David Bates (Korliss), Kathy Ward (Frankie), Jonathan Bates (Judy) and Dawn Bond (Scott); her daughter-in-law Tracy Bates; and her sister Darlene Mongeau. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren.
