She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Taylor and Irene Taylor (Iler); her husband Francis Henry Fowler; her daughter Susan Pavelka; and her sister Donna Layman.

She is survived by: her daughters, Carolyn Meyer of Houghton Lake and Christine Fowler of Mount Pleasant; her granddaughters, Amelia Pavelka and Sarah Pavelka; her great grandchildren, Helmstetter and Dylan Pavelka; her sons-in-law, James Pavelka of Traverse City and Dale Arbour of Mt. Pleasant; and her sister Beatrice Shareghi of Marshall.

Memorial contributions in memory of Ruth are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Meals on Wheels Program, Houghton Lake Public Library, or Roscommon County Salvation Army.
