He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Bast and Betty (Jim Alters). He is survived by: his wife Sherry Bast (Root); his children, Tammy Keech and Cory Bast; his grandchildren, Courtney Fliearman and Devin Keech; his great grandchildren, Ryder Fliearman, Kannyn Dubis and Charlie Dubis; and his siblings, Randy Bast (Judy), Terry Alters (Bev), Jamie Wayz and Stacey Alters (Robert Welch). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and several friends.
The military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Saint Mary's Cemetery (13798 Stover Rd, Charlevoix, MI 49720).
