She was predeceased by: her parents, Cecil Ward and Bernice Ward; her husband Lowell Newell; her daughter-in-law Carol Newell; and her siblings, Harry Ward, Harold Ward, James Ward, Mary Sheibley and Ardith Higley.
She is survived by: her children, Lowell "Kenny" Newell Jr. (Karen), Catherine Galan, William Newell Sr. and Christine Woodson (Dana); her grandchildren, Sarah Sharpe (Jon Cook), Jacob Ohm, Zoey Humes (Dennis Sherbrook), William Newell Jr. (Gissele), Kenlee Humes and Penelope Galan (Greg Dennis); and her siblings, Margaret Timmons, Lois Miller, Alice Bontrager, Joyce Ternet, John Ward and David Ward.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes MacDonald Chapel (315 N Michigan Ave, Howell, MI 48843). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Phyllis' name to Elara Caring Hospice, or to the American Legion Auxiliary.
