She was predeceased by: her parents, William Tucker and Isabella Tucker (Edmonds); her husband John Hering; her children, Anthony Hering, Sandra Hering and Tammy North; her grandson Nicholas Hering; and her siblings, Lloyd Tucker, Mac Tucker, Tom Tucker, Bernard Tucker, William Tucker, Elizabeth Tucker, Joan Myers, Gladys Bennett and Nora Zottneck.
She is survived by: her children, Sue Ann Schmitz (Ed), Judy Hompstead, Robert Mason (Stacey), Randy Mason (Amy), Fred Hering (Karen), Nick Hering (Vanessa) and Melissa McCallum (Dan); and her brothers, Maurice Tucker (Donna) and Cecil Tucker (Judy). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the First Assembly of God (164 N Ripley Blvd, Alpena, MI 49707).
In leu of flowers, Memorials in Shirley's name may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
