We announce the death of Gerald Schut (Hudsonville, Michigan), who passed away on October 21, 2026, at the age of 79. Gerald will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerrit Schut and Dena Schut; his brother Larry Schut; and his granddaughter Anna Brockelbank. He is survived by: his wife Carole; his daughters, Pam Wise (Chris), Heidi Brockelbank (Steve) and Lisa Vredevoogd (Ross); his grandchildren, Adam Wise (Lauren), Elise Cecala (Ryan), Hayley Jackoviak (John), Madisyn Meeker (Mark), Morgan Brockelbank, Alison Matthews (Drew) and Mya Vredevoogd; his great grandchildren, Lillie, Quinn, Scottie Jackoviak, Brock and Rylee Meeker; his siblings, Carol Venema, Gary, Elaine Schut, Don and Sandy Schut; and his in-laws, Ron, Arloa McCowan, Jack Bosgraaf, Doug, Linda Kort, Tim, Linda Foster, Rol and Terri Miedema. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the VanderLaan Funeral Home (4917 32nd Ave, Hudsonville, MI 49426). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Hudsonville Reformed Church (3950 Highland Dr, Hudsonville, MI 49426).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Gerald's memory.
