He was predeceased by: his wife Thressa "Jeanne" Veldman; and his grandchildren, Joshua Polinskey and Hailey Polinskey. He is survived by: his children, Kathy TerBeek, Linda (Steve Morris), James (Karen Veldman) and Sheri (Tim Polinskey); his sister Myrtle Huizinga; and his sister-in-law Cornella Petroelje. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters.
