She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Emelander and Jennie Emelander; her siblings, Donald Emelander, Elizabeth Elders (Alvin), Albert Emelander (Ella Jane), Sarah Van Geest (Hank), Bern Emelander (Rose) and Betty Hassevoort (Don); her great grandchild Landon DeRoo; her siblings-in-law, Gerald DeRoo and Sharon DeRoo; and her nephews, Larry Elders, Bob Van Geest and Jim Van Geest.
She is survived by: her husband Bernard DeRoo; her sons, Mike (Cheryl), Duane and Ron (Jodi); her siblings-in-law, Harv DeRoo (Sheri), Art DeRoo (Arlene), Joyce Blauwkamp (Wayne) and Dorothy DeRoo; and her nephews, Jack and Gary. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Fellowship Reformed Church (6610 36th Ave, Hudsonville, MI 49426). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
