He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Van Hoven; his sister Barb Schild; and his parents, Jacob Hoven and Mildred Van Hoven (Cook). He is survived by: his children, Jan Gillett (Robert), Judy Pruim (Chuck), Jack Van Hoven (Beth) and Jim Van Hoven (Ruth); his grandchildren, Allison Foote (Keith), Stephanie Gillett, Andrew Gillett (Jaclyn), Seth Van Hoven (Shannon), Cassie Malone (Ben), Megan Scheerhorn (Steven) and Jordan Van Hoven; and his sister Norma Alkema (Marv). He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the VanderLaan Funeral Home (4917 32nd Ave, Hudsonville, MI 49426). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
