He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Patrick and Hazel Patrick (Erridge); his brother Keith Patrick; and his granddaughters, Ryleigh McCain and Grace McCain.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Patrick of Ionia; his sons, Timothy Patrick (Aundrea) of Ionia, Ronald McCain (Amy Wells) of Stanton and Howard Tompkins Jr. (Sandy) of Fenwick; and his grandchildren, Tonian Patrick, Mackenzie Patrick, Kellen Patrick, Addison McCain and Jaxson McCain.
