He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Nelson and Joan Nelson (Higbee); his brother-in-law Kenneth Peabody; his cousin J. Tom Higbee; and his nephew Bruce Hoeksema.
He is survived by: his wife Roxanne "Rocky" Nelson of Ionia; his daughter Karen "Snicklefritz" Leak (Scott) of Ionia; his grandchildren, Justin Leak (Beth), Ashley Reisbig (Josh) and Lindsey VanOchten (Samantha); his great grandchildren, Hudson Reisbig, Elise Reisbig, Edison VanOchten and Baby Harrison VanOchten; his sister Denise Peabody of Ionia; and his nieces and nephews, Kim Hoeksema and Kevin Peabody (Christine).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lake Funeral Home (3521 S State Rd, Ionia, MI 48846).
