He was predeceased by : his parents, George Honkala and Marion Honkala; his sister Georgia Taylor; his niece Sherri Taylor; and his son Ladd George Honkala II.

He is survived by : his wife Susan Honkala; his children, Toni Aanonsen (Todd) of New York and Brent Honkala (Becky Randall) of Bessemer; his grandchildren, Shelby Schultz of New York, Abby, Macey Schultz and Ladd Honkala III (Paris Curnow) of Ironwood; his great grandchild Brynlee Honkala; and his family, Paris and Brynlee.
