He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Jr. Mathews and Betty Mathews (Metzger); and his brother Gary Mathews. He is survived by: his wife Julie Mathews (Polkinghorne); his sons, Jarred Mathews and Steven Mathews; his grandson Jeffrey Mathews (Emma); his great grandchild Ryatt Mathews; his siblings, Sally Mathews, Tim Mathews (Marty) and Ed Mathews; and his sister-in-law Miyuki Mathews. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (335 S Pine St, Ishpeming, MI 49849). A graveside service was held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 2:15 PM at the Ishpeming Cemetery (1705 N 2nd St, Ishpeming, MI 49849).
