We announce the death of Janet Elizabeth (Lefere) Kalahar of Jackson, Michigan, who passed away on October 15, 2026, at the age of 86. Janet will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Maurice Lefere and Elizabeth Lefere (Crowley); her husband Richard; and her brother Maurie Lefere. She is survived by: her children, Gary Kalahar (Becky), Karen Lampman (Jeff), Beth Russell (Dave), Pat Kalahar (Lisa), Andy Kalahar (Wendy) and Mick Kalahar (Hillary); her grandchildren, Emily Drumm (Nick), Erin Lucken (Jon), Adam Kalahar, Ali Schrock (Kevin), Lindsay Lampman, Mitch Lampman, Travis Russell (Kendall Braate), Haley Russell, Shannon Russell, Raegan Kurlenda (David Fox), Karlie Kurlenda, Brady Kurlenda, Cody Kalahar, Mark Kalahar, Courtney Kalahar, Kash Kalahar, Claire Kalahar and Kiley Kalahar; her great grandchildren, Lainey Drumm, Lincoln Drumm, Kade Schrock and Luke Lucken; her siblings, Jim Lefere, Jerry Lefere, Mary Jo Kelly (Jerry), Anne Best (Bill) and Cathy Sykes (Jerry); and her in-laws, Ruth Westhoff and Jim Kalahar. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Desnoyer Funeral Home (204 N Blackstone St, Jackson, MI 49201). A rosary was held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 at 7:30 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM and at 11:00 AM.
